Lighting at our shop is always a big issue. We have large, fluorescent overheads in the backroom, and have bright, floor standing lamps at each station we use while we tattoo (for maximum light on the area being tattooed and to give us the leeway of moving around the light source, as most shops do)....

IMO the people that generally toss around the term "Tramp Stamp" (or "Bullseye" for that matter) are generally harder to deal with and more annoying than the girl with the tattoo in question. Just my $.02 on the matter. BTW, at my area, I'd say between $95 and $150, depending on a view varibles simp...

Generally, in a large, mulyi-sitting piece, chanes are that there will be a touch-up session at some point. Same goes for large-scale tribal/neotribal work. That much is a given. At our shop, we tell EVERYONE that leaves the shop, from a shop-minimum quarter-sized kanji to a 20+ hours sleeve piece, ...

I dunno, I think I was the last artist in the world NOT to have some sort of online portfolio/collection of tattoos, and, since now I do, I would assume that EVERY artist has one, lol.

...Still don't own a cell phone though..... :D

If the artist knows what he's doing, doesn't used the cheapest disposable razors know to man, and lathers the client up with a nice ammount of frothy green soap, rzaor burn shouldn't even be an issue. I've had about a half dozen guys (always guys) over the last 5 years fuck themselves up trying to s...

Most of the time, if anything, a potential client will ONLY ask to see my portfolio. After they've surfed through it and seem happy, they make their appointment. That said, 5 things that they SHOULD ask : *Questions are BOLD and reasons are ITALICIZED * 1. Do you have on-site sterilization? A lot of...

Welp, finished the 2nd sitting on a japanese half-sleeve tonight. Last week we started a Tengu and a Hanya on the inside of his arm, tonight we did the prelim linework for the dragon taking on the brunt of the outside and adding a scroll around some pre-existing kanji work (not mine). Next up is a l...

There's a new book out by Joy Surles through Wolfgang Publishing called "Tattoo : From Idea to Ink" that I just picked up last weekend from Borders. If anyone reading this thread doesn't have a tattoo but is thinking about getting one, it's a pretty sound investment. In essence, it's similar to the ...

A lot fo it would have to do with the "movement" of the piece as well. Choosing a slighly more angled, more "agressive" move to the shotting star would help it look less feminine. Going new school, with bolder outlines and more "forward momentum" could really help. A more realistic approach, placing...

extremeblaster, something to think about : - You shouldn't NEED lifetime free touch-ups. if the tattoo is done well, and you take care of it properly (during the initial 2 weeks as well as after), the most one should ever need is 1 touch-up, 2 weeks-1 month after the inital tattoo Just a nugget of w...

As has been said, this has been discussed before. Long story short : - Your tattoo will grow with you. That said, if you grow in proportion, it will grow in proportion. If you gain a lot of mass, chances are, it could slight "shift" in body position. - Beyond that, if you do get exponentially bigger...
