Blue color came out black?

Hi everyone,
So, I got a new tattoo about 8 weeks ago. I have two others but they were straight forward, nothing strange happened with them. (Wasn't sure where to put this question other than the First Tattoo section)
But for this one, one part of the tattoo was supposed to be blue. I watched the guy do it, he definitely used blue ink. When it scabbed up, the scab was blue. But once the scab was gone, only one tiny part was blue, the rest had turned black.
Has anyone ever heard of that happening? Where did this black ink come from? I went back to the tattoo artist, he looked completely baffled by it. He said all he could do was maybe put some color around it because he couldn't go back over the mystery black color. I wouldn't even care that much but all of the meaning of the tattoo is that this one part is a different color than the rest.
Also, part of the tattoo is still wrinkly, I've read that that's part of the healing process but I'm a little concerned since it's been 8 weeks.
I really like the tattoo artist and would like to go back to him once I figure out what I want to add to adjust this so the tattoo has its meaning, but I'm scared he messed up and that's what's causing this.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Yeah this looks like someone that is new or doesn't know what they are doing. Probably didn't know how to mix ink either. Was this done at a reputable tattoo shop. It looks rough.

Do you think it's going to look like that forever, or is it just going to take much longer to heal?
Should be healed by now.
Do you have a link to the shop /tattooist?

OP - get more silhouetted birds. It's probably the most ridiculously overpopular tattoo of the moment, but you've already got four, so add a couple more and put a new blue one in. It doesn't have to be just four birds. I'm sure you picked that number for a reason, but seriously, it's silhouetted birds and every other hipster has them. They can't possibly have some deep, personal meaning. Just get a couple more.

Uhg. Hate the tattoo.. And I have tribal..
Samara, a few thoughts...
1.)Your tattoo artist sucks. No need to defend him, just please go elsewhere for any additional work and please research your artist more carefully.
2.) Never heard of a blue tattoo turning black. Could be how your skin holds ink, but I think more probable that the artist f-d up.
3.) It's common for the tattoo to be wrinkly at 8 weeks out. I have had tattoos taken a full 3 months to completely heal. Just leave it alone now (no lotion or ointment) and let it heal, but doubtful it will turn blue.
4.) Agreed with above, have another artist do a blue bird above or below the rest of it if it really matters that much to you.
